AWLP to Recognize Employers with Effective Work-Life Initiatives
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- WorldatWork's Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP) announces a unique mark of excellence to recognize organizational success in work-life effectiveness. The new AWLP Work-Life Seal of Distinction will be awarded to employers who demonstrate leadership in workplace practices that help employees achieve success in their personal lives as well as at work.
"This distinction represents important validation for an employer because it is the first 'seal of approval' offered by the work-life profession itself to recognize excellence in all aspects of work-life accomplishment," said Kathie Lingle, executive director, WorldatWork's Alliance for Work-Life Progress. "Organizations of every size and sector will now be able to assess the fit between their offerings and all seven categories of the contemporary work-life portfolio, not just a subset."
The comprehensive practices that are assessed in this application include:
- Caring for Dependents
- Health and Wellness
- Workplace Flexibility
- Financial Support for Economic Security
- Paid and Unpaid Time Off
- Community Involvement
- Transforming Organizational Culture
The AWLP Work-Life Seal of Distinction acknowledges the powerful interactions between various work-life elements and initiatives. "Similar to managing a well-balanced financial portfolio, we are learning that the more interconnected support an organization provides its employees, the better the outcomes for all stakeholders, including the business itself," adds Lingle.
Organizations are invited to apply for this new recognition by completing a simple online checklist.
The application period is open from January 25 to February 29, 2012. Organizations that earn the Seal of Distinction will have exclusive use of the Seal in all official correspondence, visibly communicating to others the overall strength of their organization's work-life portfolio.
Inaugural Seal of Distinction awardees will be honored at the Work-Life Awards Gala at the AWLP Work-Life Forum in Scottsdale, Arizona, on April 17, 2012.
