AWC (Antique Wine Company)Confirms Exclusive UK Distribution of Ken Wright Cellars
LONDON, August 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Leading fine and rare wine merchants, AWC has announced it has been chosen as the exclusive UK importer and distributor of wines from Ken Wright Cellars, the prominent Oregon winemaker. This partnership affords AWC's clients the opportunity to purchase Ken Wright's exceptional portfolio of fine wines, including its globally-renowned Pinot Noirs.
Originally from Kentucky, over the past 30 years Ken Wright has established himself as one of the most influential figures of the Oregon fine wine scene. Owning three vineyards outright, he has also established 15 to 30 year leases on five other sites and more than three-quarters of the vines that supply his single vineyard and regional cuvees are farmed by his own extensive management team. Wright's philosophy for viticulture is what he calls "nutrition-based farming", which he describes as "bio-dynamics elevated to a whole different level," focusing on the promotion to microbial life in each vineyard block.
Wines in the Ken Wright Cellars portfolio that are now available through AWC include the 2012 Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir, described by Wine Enthusiast as: "exceptionally rich, dark and dense…black cherry, smoke, earth and chocolate intertwine in a remarkable smooth, long, complex and extended finish." AWC clients can also purchase the 2012 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, one of the very best entry-level Pinot Noirs in the world and the 2011 Celilo Vineyard Chardonnay, a 100% Chardonnay from White Salmon, Washington, which affords a cooler climate, resulting in the fruit retaining more acidity and the wine displaying a clean mineral character with expansive texture.
As a recognition of their quality and approachability, these wines are already being snapped up by some of London's best restaurants. They are currently being served at The Square (2 Michelin Stars), Wolfgang Puck's CUT Restaurant, and all three London steak houses in the Goodman Restaurant group.
Stephen Williams, Managing Director of AWC, comments: "Ken Wright is a pioneer in Pacific North West wine-making, and his methods and philosophy are celebrated worldwide. His exceptional wines are illustrative of the characteristics of his chosen vineyards, and we are thrilled to be in a position to share these with our customers. At AWC we want to deliver the best in old and new world wines, and Ken Wright Cellars is an excellent addition to our North American portfolio."
