Award-Winning Designer Alessandra Lariu Joins frog As Executive Creative Director
Named one of Fast Company's "100 Most Creative People," Lariu co-leads frog's Creative team in New York
NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- frog, the global product strategy and design firm, today announced that designer and entrepreneur Alessandra Lariu has joined the company as Executive Creative Director in its New York studio. A Rio de Janeiro native whose career has spanned Brazil, the United Kingdom, and the United States, Alessandra has led design programs for global clients like MasterCard, O2, and General Mills.
"My passion is to find ways that design can both delight people and create value for organizations," said Lariu. "I joined frog because I saw an opportunity to apply my creative leadership in very diverse contexts, from product strategy and design for Fortune 100 brands, to venture design services for the startup ecosystem."
"We are thrilled to have Alessandra join the frog family," said Hans Neubert, Chief Creative Officer, frog. "She offers a global perspective on the challenges facing organizations in a connected world. Moreover, she embodies the spirit of frog, bringing a fine-tuned sense of empathy, passion, and entrepreneurship to her craft."
Prior to joining frog, Alessandra worked with startups, including launching two of her own—Shout, a vibrant community of creative women, and Broadli, a generosity app to help people network. She also co-founded SheSays, an award-winning global network organization focused on the engagement, education, and advancement of women in the creative industries.
Before starting her own companies, she was SVP Group Creative Director at McCann, where she worked with clients like MasterCard, General Mills, Kohl's, Nikon, and Verizon.
In 2010 Fast Company named Alessandra one of the "100 Most Creative People" in business. In 2011 she was elected "World's Most Influential Female Creative Director" by AdWomen and received an award for "Greatest Individual Contribution to New Media" by NMA Magazine. In 2012 she was in Fast Company's "League of Extraordinary Women" with 60 others, including Hillary Clinton, Oprah, and Kiva founder Jessica Jackley.
She taught at Hyper Island, Miami Ad School, Berghs, and Boulder Digital Works, and writes a column for two Brazilian magazines on design and digital culture.
Born in the Amazon jungle, she grew up in Rio de Janeiro and in 1994 was awarded a scholarship from the Brazilian government to do an MA in London where she lived and worked for 13 years before moving to the U.S.
