Award-winning Creative Walt Connelly Joins Ogilvy
NAMED ECD FOR AGENCY'S IBM ACCOUNT
NEW YORK, March 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Top agency creative leader Walt Connelly is joining Ogilvy & Mather New York as Executive Creative Director on the agency's IBM account where he will partner with Steve Simpson, Chief Creative Officer for Ogilvy North America and Susan Westre, Global Creative Director for IBM.
Connelly is joining Ogilvy following five-years at JWT as an ECD on the agency's signature accounts; Microsoft, The Diamond Trading Company, Kimberly-Clark HSBC, Ford and Bloomberg. Connelly was instrumental in the Microsoft wins while at JWT. This year Connelly and his team won a number of top awards for work on Microsoft, including a Bronze Titanium Lion in Cannes.
"Walt is an ideal fit for Ogilvy and for IBM. He has great intelligence, passion and wit. We've admired his work for a very long time, and we are all delighted to bring his remarkable talents back to Ogilvy," said Simpson.
Connelly joins an integrated creative team at Ogilvy that has created a broad array of award-winning campaigns on behalf of the IBM brand. This year alone Ogilvy has launched celebrated work for the Watson computer, expanded the Smarter Planet initiative and is launching new work in honor of IBM's Centennial year.
"There are a handful of great brands in the world and IBM is one of them. The fantastic thing about a technology brand like IBM is that it's always moving forward and this forward movement is constantly changing culture and our lives. This means that communications need to mirror this forward movement and that is very exciting," said Walt Connelly, adding. "I can't wait to start working on IBM and partner with Steve and Susan and the amazing teams working at Ogilvy on behalf of this brand."
Before JWT, Connelly worked in the San Francisco office of McCann and earlier he worked at Euro, and also at Ogilvy where he worked on American Express, Brooks Brothers and Jaguar.
