AVRS Responds to Questions Regarding Its Patent Position
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Voice Recognition Systems, Inc. ("AVRS") (OTCBB: AVOI) responds to questions regarding its patent position.
AVRS announced today that it has received numerous calls regarding the AVRS press release of May 2, 2012 concerning the April 27, 2012 decision of the Board of Patent Appeals and Interference ("BPAI"). President and CEO of AVRS, Walter Geldenhuys, stated, "The status of all of the Company's U.S. Patents (#5,960,447, #7,558,730, #7,949,534 and #8,131,557) are unaffected by the BPAI decision. AVRS has not lost any of its patents, or the enforceability of the patents."
Mr. Geldenhuys explained, "If the results of the Interference had favored AVRS, it would have resulted in a fifth patent for AVRS. The claims in one application only, application number 09/351,542, were determined to be unpatentable by the BPAI. We have various options regarding this decision, and they are being evaluated. Additionally, as per the May 2, 2012 release, the Company conducted internal patent evaluations comparing our technology to those products we believe may be utilizing our patented technology without the benefit of a licensing agreement. The Company's patent attorney is close to concluding the review and evaluation."
