AVIA Announces First-Of-Its-Kind Provider Cohorts
AVIA engages innovation leaders to mitigate the risks of early adoption
CHICAGO, May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AVIA – an innovation accelerator focused on helping healthcare providers select and implement emerging technology solutions – announced the formation of its first innovation cohort within its growing AVIA Innovator Network during the 2014 National Healthcare Innovation Summit in Boston, MA. To help mitigate the risk typically associated with being an early adopter, AVIA will bring together select groups of like-minded, non-competitive providers, all focused on solving common strategic challenges. Through AVIA, cohort participants strategically source and implement the best new solutions, in effect making a market for early stage technologies.
"By working together, we believe leading healthcare providers can think bolder and act faster," said Eric Langshur, CEO of AVIA. "It becomes far less risky to procure and implement new solutions when done so in conjunction with other organizations that have similar visions, goals, and infrastructure."
The first cohort, launching in July, will be led by Aaron Martin, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Innovation at Providence Health & Services, and will address the challenge of attracting and retaining patients. "We are excited to partner with AVIA and I am looking forward to chairing the inaugural innovation cohort," said Martin. "Leveraging scale and collaboration through AVIA cohorts will help us find the most promising digital health companies in support of Providence's innovation platform and create a viable market for their important innovations."
Subsequent cohorts will address additional contemporary provider challenges identified by the AVIA Innovator Network such as improving the patient experience.
