Avenue Capital Group Names Anil Gorthy and Dan Galanter to Asia Strategy

NEW YORK, Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Avenue Capital Group, a global investment firm focused on undervalued opportunities in the private and public debt and equity markets in the U.S., Europe and Asia, today announced that Anil Gorthy has been named Senior Portfolio Manager of the Avenue Asia Strategy and Dan Galanter has been named Senior Managing Director of Avenue Capital Group.  Together, Messrs. Gorthy and Galanter will lead the Avenue Asia Strategy, which focuses on investments in distressed and undervalued debt of companies throughout Asia, in addition to special situations investments, performing/restructured debt, alternative financing, and non-performing loans. 

As Senior Portfolio Manager, Mr. Gorthy will lead the investment activity of the Avenue Asia Strategy.  He previously was a Senior Portfolio Manager of the Asia Special Situations strategy at PAG, an Asia-focused alternative investment manager, for the past five years.  Prior to joining PAG in 2009, Mr. Gorthy worked in the Asia-Pacific Distressed Products Group at Deutsche Bank AG.

Mr. Galanter will focus on business development, strategy, and management for the Avenue Asia Strategy.  He was previously Head of Business Development at PAG for the past six years.

Messrs. Gorthy and Galanter will formally start with Avenue Capital's Asia Strategy at the end of December. Mark Harris will continue with the Asia Strategy as a Portfolio Manager, along with the Avenue investment professionals based across Asia.  As of August 31, 2014, Avenue Capital's assets under management allocated to the Avenue Asia Strategy were estimated to be approximately $1.0 billion.
