Aventura Client Presents Enhancing Emergency Department Documentation Efficiency at Optum Client Forum 2014

WHAT:

Greg Melitski, R.N., B.S.N., Clinical System Coordinator at Hunterdon Healthcare System, presents "Hunterdon Healthcare System Increases Documentation Quality and Efficiency with Aventura Awareness Computing" at the second annual Optum Client Forum in Chicago.

In the fast-paced and typically overly crowded hospital emergency department (ED), success is all about throughput efficiency. The more effortless the ED clinician's workflow, the less wasted time and inaccurate documentation, and thus the faster and smoother the department overall operates so more patients can be seen. Relevant data in near real time vastly improves clinical productivity, efficiency, flexibility, and mobility.

WHY:

In this presentation, Melitski explains how Hunterdon Healthcare solved its ED workflow challenges, including reducing documentation time in the Optum EHR, boosting real-time documentation at the bedside, and heightening security of protected health information and patient privacy by implementing Aventura's awareness computing.

Aventura intrinsically recognizes clinician users, their role, location, device and patient in the room, and instantly presents relevant applications as they roam across the hospital.

Melitski will detail the results achieved:  

• reducing end-of-shift paperwork from 1 hour 45 minutes to just 15 minutes
