Avatron Launches New Universal Air Sharing 2.8 App for iPhone, iPod and iPad
Now View and Print Documents, Access Remote File Servers From any iOS Device with a Single App for Just $5; iPhone-only Air Sharing Classic Users Get Free Upgrade to Pro Features
PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Avatron® Software, a leading developer of productivity apps for the Apple iOS platform, today announced the launch of its new universal Air Sharing 2.8 file sharing app that lets iPhone, iPod and iPad users turn their mobile devices into external storage drives to save, view and print documents on the go and now do it all with a single universal app for all devices for just $5.
The latest upgrade gives iPhone-only Air Sharing Pro users the same advanced document viewer, document printing capabilities and remote file server access on both the iPhone and iPad. Users of the iPhone-only Classic and iPad-only HD products can retain their device-specific apps if they choose, or upgrade to the new universal Air Sharing app to take advantage of the advanced features across the entire iOS platform. Users of the iPhone-only Air Sharing Classic will be upgraded to the Pro features for free.
The latest universal edition also includes newly-added built-in support for Google Docs, enabling users to access and view files stored on the free online document management platform from either an iPhone or iPad device.
"Existing Air Sharing users will now be able to use their favorite document tools, like PDF navigation, document printing, file sharing and remote server access, on any iOS device for just $5," said Avatron CEO Dave Howell. "And, for new users, it's a great way to future-proof your investment. Maybe you only have the iPhone now, but are looking to buy an iPad when the next version comes out. With this new Air Sharing Universal edition, you'll be ready."
Air Sharing 2.8 joins Avatron's family of other universal productivity apps for iOS devices: Print Sharing makes it easy to print any document directly from iPhone or iPad in just three quick steps; and Air Display turns any iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Mac computer into a wireless secondary computer display.
"When it comes to productivity apps, the iPhone and iPad environments are actually quite comparable, so a single, universal app makes more sense for us and our users," Howell said. "Moving to a universal app will allow us to improve the app more efficiently. But more importantly, it puts us on a firm foundation to prepare for some powerful new inter-device synchronization features related to Apple's iCloud service. We're very excited about that."
Air Sharing users who have already unlocked the Pro edition features and users of the HD for iPad version will see no functional change with the upgrade to version 2.8. Air Sharing Classic users will be upgraded to Pro edition features for free, while Pro users will be migrated from the iPhone-only app to the Universal app.
Air Sharing 2.8 is now available in the App Store and is part of Avatron's highly acclaimed family of productivity apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. For more information, visit www.avatron.com.
