Avalon Healthcare Solutions Names Chief Growth Officer and Chief Operating Officer

TAMPA, Fla., June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Avalon Healthcare Solutions, the leader in technology-enabled laboratory benefit management, today announced the appointment of two senior executives. Barry Davis joins the organization as the Chief Growth Officer, and Shantha Diaz is the company's new Chief Operating Officer.

Davis is responsible for growing Avalon's revenues and services through the company's national business development strategy. Most recently, Davis was the Senior Vice President, Health Plan Segment at OptumRx, a business of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), where he led a cross-functional team managing a multi-billion dollar business serving over 25 health plan clients. Prior to OptumRx, Davis was a member of Catamaran Corp.'s executive team. Davis also spent nearly 20 years in various sales and operational roles at Medco Health Solutions, now a part of Express Scripts.

As Chief Operating Officer, Diaz is leading the ongoing creation and management of critical technology and operational capabilities for Avalon's lab management solutions. Prior to Avalon, Diaz served as Chief Operating Officer of Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, overseeing a doubling of the plan's membership and revenues. Previously, Diaz was Staff Vice President of Medical Business Solutions at Anthem (NYSE: ANTM). Diaz also has over 20 years' experience in information technology roles, including as Manager of Application Development at Humana.
