PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 28, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The Automotive Heritage Foundation is now accepting entries in its 2020 journalism awards competition.
The program recognizes outstanding journalism in 10 automotive heritage categories, including best book, vehicle-restoration article and motorsports feature, as well as best heritage blog, column or broadcast story. Kiekert AG, the technology leader in automotive locking systems, is the official sponsor of the competition.
The entry deadline for this year's program is May 31. Awards will be presented at the Concours d'Elegance of America on Sunday, July 26 in the Brembo media center at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, Michigan. In case the concours is canceled due to the coronavirus crisis, the Automotive Heritage Foundation (AHA) also is developing plans for a "virtual" online awards ceremony.
Additional information along with a list of previous "gold medal" winners is available on the AHA's website: http://bit.ly/2GIsOJm.
"Kiekert has been an ideal corporate partner for our annual journalism awards program," said AHA founder Steve Purdy. "A leader in the development of automotive latch and entry-system technology, the company has a long and distinguished history that dates back to the mid 1800's."
Award winners are selected by a jury of more than 20 auto journalists and academics, headed by Csaba Csere, former editor-in-chief of Car & Driver magazine, and Gary Witzenburg, president of the North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year program.
"Entries are judged based on overall quality, significance, precision, journalistic integrity and aesthetics." Purdy noted. "Our panel of judges have been selected from the heritage automotive community, including journalists, academics and others who are knowledgeable, respected and steeped in the appreciation of automotive history."
The annual competition is one of four AHA programs, including Concept Car of the Year, Future Collectible Vehicle of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. Other AHA sponsors include the Society of Automotive Historians, Brembo, the Concourse d'Elegance of America and America's Automotive Trust.
"Kiekert has a rich history in the automotive industry and we're extremely happy to be a presenting sponsor of the AHA's journalism awards program for a second consecutive year," said Mike Hietbrink, the company's general manager of Kiekert USA and global sales director.
