ONTARIO, Calif., July 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Auto-Graphics, Inc., a leading provider of tools, technologies, and software developed to power libraries, and Recorded Books, proudly announce a unique integration of the ZinioTM e-reader within A-G's VERSO® ILS.
Auto-Graphics, Inc. is the first library software company to fully integrate Recorded Books' highly regarded Zinio e-reader for libraries. Zinio allows library users to gain full access to the content right from within the catalog. All content is available via search in the regular VERSO catalog so the user doesn't need to know how to access Zinio's web site. Fonda Owens, Director of La Porte County Public Library in Indiana recently said, "The integration of Zinio into the VERSO catalog was a huge deciding factor for us in our recent selection of Auto-Graphics as the vendor of choice for the library's new ILS software."
With Zinio Digital Magazines for Libraries, a library subscribes to magazines, choosing from hundreds of popular titles in the world's largest digital newsstand. A library can now make available to their users, these magazine resources via the Zinio links within VERSO. There are no checkout return periods, or maximum quantities of magazines that a user can have out at one time.
"Recorded Books is extremely pleased to have completed integration with Auto-Graphics, allowing for direct catalog access to our Zinio for Libraries content," said Rich Freese, Recorded Books CEO. "Patrons will be able to find a library's Zinio magazine collection by searching for titles in the most common way, from the library's catalog. This direct access will make for a superior user experience, dramatically increase checkouts and further the popularity of an already wildly popular product."
Auto-Graphics has also integrated a single sign-on feature that allows a user to start reading Zinio magazines right from the catalog. The user has the ability, within VERSO, to click on any back issues from the full display and start reading. Links to Zinio's iPad and Android apps from the full display are also provided inside VERSO so the users aren't left guessing how and where to get the app, as is the case in all other ILS software products.
Albert Flores, VP of Sales at Auto-Graphics, believes "the integration goes far beyond making two systems 'communicate' as our integration of Recorded Books' Zinio service embodies simple patron workflow, logical user interface design and truly surfacing the vendor's core strengths. The Recorded Books implementation is an extension of our purposeful e-content support, which is rooted in accentuating each vendor's unique e-content and product design with a holistic approach to the growing e-pool of information services public libraries continue to leverage and expand."
VERSO is delivered via the Cloud in a hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model to assist in cost control and address budget or staffing constraints. All system upgrades are provided at no additional cost. Auto-Graphics was the first ILS vendor to utilize SaaS deployment and installation with a web-based staff module. With the web-based application, all upgrades and fixes or enhancements are immediately available to all users. There is no client software to load and maintain, freeing up valuable IT or technical staff to support additional projects for the library.
