Author Solutions Announces Distribution Pact with Kobo eReading Service
World Leader in Indie Book Publishing Makes New Black-and-White iUniverse, Trafford Titles Available Immediately; AuthorHouse and Xlibris Titles Available Later this Year
BLOOMINGTON, Ind., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Author Solutions (ASI), the world leader in indie book publishing, announced today a distribution pact with Kobo - the cloud-based eReading service that allows consumers to read eBooks on multiple devices.
Under the terms of the agreement, all new black-and-white iUniverse and Trafford Publishing titles will be made available through Kobo immediately, with AuthorHouse and Xlibris titles to follow later in 2010. Authors on the ASI backlist will eventually be able to have their books made available through the service. The default price for titles will be set at $9.99, but individual authors will be permitted to change price points prior to being put into distribution through Kobo.
"Partnering with Kobo greatly expands the reach of our authors, as it serves readers in Canada, Asia and the European Union as well as the United States," said Kevin Weiss, ASI president and chief executive officer. "As a cloud-based service, it has even greater flexibility than a lot of other eReading platforms, as titles can be read on any mobile reader. This flexibility will be of great benefit to our authors as they strive to expand readership and build their marketing platforms."
Kobo is a cloud-based eReading retail service that is supported by several of the world's top book retailers, including Indigo and Borders. Its ePub format makes it readable on any device including smart phones, computers, the new iPad and most eReaders. Kobo's catalog includes millions of eBooks, and has customers from more than 200 countries.
