Author Battles Severe Mental Illness to Earn Master's Degree

RAWLINS, Wyo., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- At the age of 18, Daniel Meyers was struck with a severe and persisting mental illness: schizophrenia. But instead of giving up, Meyers reached from poverty and despair to achieve an MSW and LCSW, and published his trials and discrimination due to his illness in The Spirit of the Lion (published by AuthorHouse).

Meyers' autobiography is written chronologically, from his birth in 1954 to his current state. Tragically, Meyers mother dies of lupus, and Meyer's childhood is spent in an orphanage. Meyers chronicles his early adulthood and experiences with family and friends.

About the Author

Meyers graduated with two Associate degrees from UWCC, a Bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Wyoming, and a Master's degree from the University of Kansas, all in Social Work. He is a licensed clinical social worker and Master Peer Support Specialist in Rawlins, Wyoming. Meyers enjoys fishing and hunting.
