Australian Department of Defence Taps Unisys to Support Regional Operations Nationwide
Unisys to continue providing IT managed services for 460 Defence locations nationally
BLUE BELL, Pa., Jan. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that its Australian subsidiary has signed a two-year contract extension, estimated to be worth approximately US$46 million (AUD$52 million), with the Australian Department of Defence to provide IT support for 100,000 end users at 460 Defence locations across Australia.
Under the contract, Unisys will continue to provide IT support services including network security and infrastructure support, as well as server and desktop support, to all sections within the Australian Department of Defence including the Australian Defence Force - comprised of the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force.
Unisys also provides support for joint service and international military exercises, and has supported emergency disaster responses such as the recent bushfires in the Blue Mountains and Queensland floods.
Since taking on the contract in 2008, Unisys has standardized IT support processes nationally, refining delivery processes and procedures to deliver a high-quality service experience more efficiently.
"We are delighted to continue our relationship with the Australian Department of Defence. Unisys has a highly skilled and trusted field service workforce with the national reach to meet Defence's geographic IT support requirements across metropolitan, regional and remote locations," said Scott Whyman, vice president and general manager, Global Managed Services Asia Pacific for Unisys.

All forward-looking statements rely on assumptions and are subject to various risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from expectations. In particular, the estimated value of the two-year extension is based on various assumptions concerning the number and type of devices to be serviced by Unisys under the Australian Department of Defence's Next Generation Desktop program. Fees change based on the number and type of devices in use, and the mix of devices may vary from the current forecast. In addition, the Australian Department of Defence has the option to terminate the contract prior to the expiry of the two-year contract extension period. Accordingly, the estimated value of the two-year extension is not guaranteed.
