Austin Energy Chooses Elster's A3 C&I Meters for Smart Grid Deployment
RALEIGH, N.C., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Elster announced today that it has completed shipment of 32,000 A3 commercial and industrial (C&I) meters to Austin, Texas based Austin Energy as part of Austin Energy's advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) deployment.
"Elster has consistently provided innovative, high-quality metering products and solutions to Austin Energy," said Austin Energy metering supervisor Carlos Tello.
"Elster's A3 meter is recognized as a best-in-class meter with innovative features, high accuracy and utility grade reliability so selecting the A3 for our AMI deployment was an easy decision," Tello added.
Austin Energy is the nation's ninth largest community-owned electric utility, serving 388,000 customers and a population of more than 900,000.
"Because of the open design of the Elster A3 metering line, utilities have the flexibility to use our A3 meter with most third-party AMI systems," said Dennis Warden, Elster's general manager of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) solutions.
