Biographies:
David Alpern, Partner, Aurora Private Equity
Mr. Alpern is a Partner of Aurora Private Equity. Mr. Alpern joined Aurora in 2006, following the completion of a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. Previously, Mr. Alpern served as an Associate with GTCR Golder Rauner, a Chicago-based leverage buyout firm, and prior thereto as an investment banking analyst within Credit Suisse First Boston's Global Industrial & Services practice. Most recently, Mr. Alpern served as a Manager in the Corporate Development/Merger & Acquisition Group at Microsoft Corporation. Mr. Alpern currently serves on the Boards of RecoverCare and NuCO2.
Mr. Alpern received a BA in History from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Michael J. Marino, Principal, Aurora Private Equity
Mr. Marino is a Principal of Aurora Private Equity. He joined Aurora in 2003 and then rejoined the firm after earning a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. Previously, Mr. Marino was a member of the Mergers & Strategic Advisory / Industrials Group of Goldman, Sachs & Co in New York. Mr. Marino currently serves on the Board of Directors of Anthony International, Douglas Dynamics and Porex.
Mr. Marino received a BA in Economics, with honors, from Boston College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Joshua Phillips, Partner, Aurora Resurgence
Mr. Phillips is a Partner with Aurora Resurgence. Previously, Mr. Phillips was a Principal at American Capital Strategies where he focused on both control equity investments and debt financings for middle market companies. While at American Capital Mr. Phillips served on numerous boards of directors of portfolio companies. Prior to American Capital, Mr. Phillips was an Associate in the investment banking department of Jefferies & Company, Inc. At Jefferies & Company, Mr. Phillips executed high yield bond offerings, restructuring assignments and distressed merger and acquisition engagements for middle market companies.
Mr. Phillips received a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Peter Leibman, Principal, Aurora Resurgence
Mr. Leibman is a Principal with Aurora Resurgence. He was formerly a Manager at Bain & Company, a leading consulting firm. While at Bain, Mr. Leibman led turnaround / performance improvement, merger and acquisition, and strategy engagements across a variety of industries for businesses in North America and Europe and had extensive experience in commercial due diligence, financial valuation, strategy development and taskforce leadership.
Mr. Leibman received a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Ryan McCarthy, Principal, Aurora Resurgence
Mr. McCarthy is a Principal with Aurora Resurgence. He was formerly a Senior Director at Alvarez and Marsal, a leading consulting and turnaround management firm. While at Alvarez and Marsal, Mr. McCarthy led turnaround and restructuring engagements and served in numerous interim management roles including COO, CFO and Treasurer. Mr. McCarthy held management roles at several companies including Warnaco, National Century Financial Enterprises and Movie Gallery. Mr. McCarthy was previously an investment banking Analyst at Banc America Securities.
Mr. McCarthy received a BS in Accounting and Finance from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University and attended Boston University's International Business program in London, England.
