Aupeo Announces Plans for Surround Sound Music Streaming
Media Content Delivery Platform Provides Automotive Industry, Business Customers and Consumers with Multi-channel Audio Streaming
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Aupeo GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation of North America, and DTS, Inc., a leader in high-definition audio solutions and audio enhancement technologies, announced today a partnership to create the first streaming audio platform capable of streaming music in DTS-HD® surround sound.
Aupeo is a leading audio streaming platform with global reach providing consumers and business customers with a unique content experience. The addition of multichannel audio will further enhance the leading-edge technology and brand relationship tools that Aupeo is able to offer its automotive customers.
To stream in multi-channel audio, Aupeo will be utilizing a high performance adaptive bit-rate profile of the popular DTS-HD® format that will enable the service to deliver an impressive cinematic surround sound experience to listeners. With the ability to adapt to bit rate changes without audio dropouts, clicks or pops, as noticed with competing audio solutions, streaming in DTS-HD® shines when bandwidth is limited and network conditions fluctuate.
Elliot Scheiner, multi Grammy Award winning Producer and Engineer is collaborating with and advising Aupeo and DTS to create the best possible service. Scheiner has had a long-term relationship with both DTS and Aupeo's parent, Panasonic, to deliver the highest quality multi-channel audio recordings and entertainment systems to consumers and automakers alike.
"Providing consumers and automakers with a unique experience is very important to us," said David Taylor, CTO and Managing Director of Aupeo. "The technology combination of our platform, which is designed to provide personalized audio content in multiple formats to consumers, and DTS' codecs to deliver multichannel decoding for in-vehicle use or two-channel decoding for headphone use is very appealing to consumers that want to take full advantage of their car audio systems but also want extend this listening experience to mobile consumer devices. We are pleased to be working with DTS and content providers to launch this service later in the year."
"We realize that for many consumers, music is mostly consumed on mobile devices and in the car; at DTS, we want to make sure that regardless of how or where consumers choose to listen to their music, they hear it how it was meant to be heard," said Keith Burnett, vice president, product management, home AV and automotive. "We are excited to be working with Aupeo, and legendary producer, Elliot Scheiner, to bring the same immersive experience heard in the music studio to consumers streaming to their cars' premium sound systems, and over headphones to listeners streaming to their DTS Headphone:X enabled mobile devices."
"It is refreshing to work with two partners that share my passion for audio quality and the surround format," said Elliot Scheiner. "Together we are creating a new service that is truly unique."
This new service will be demonstrated at the 2014 International CES within the Panasonic Booth, #9806, Central Hall.
