Tuesday, August 30th - Participating Chicagoland Restaurants Celebrate Chicagoland's Love of Gyros and Show Gratitude to Military Families through its 3rd Annual Kronos Free Gyros Day
GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill., Aug. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether you love them, can't stop eating them, or want to try one, now is the chance to "Eat More Gyros!" On Tuesday, August 30, Kronos Foods, Inc., a leading manufacturer of premium Gyros and other Mediterranean specialty food items, www.KronosFoodsInc.com, will give Chicagoans a chance to do just that thanks to its 3rd Annual "Kronos Free Gyros Day". In addition to a free gyros, this year's promotion also encourages consumers to "Help Yourself & You Can Help a Hero", by giving to the Fisher House™ Foundation through donation boxes displayed at each Kronos Free Gyros Day participating restaurant.
Whether it is lunch, dinner or a snack, Kronos gyros will be free at approximately more than 50 participating Chicagoland area locations. At the same time, Chicagoans can help military families by simply contributing to the Fisher House Foundation through donation boxes at the counter. The Fisher House Foundation is an organization enabling military family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease or injury. In Chicago, the beneficiary would be the Fisher House located on the campus of the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Ill.
It is easy to get a "Free Kronos Gyros Day"* sandwich. Go to: www.KronosFreeGyros.com, complete the required fields, select a restaurant to visit, then download and print a free gyros sandwich coupon. Just stop into your chosen restaurant on Tuesday, August 30, present your coupon to not only "Help Yourself and You Can Help a Hero" but also "Eat More Gyros"!
"This is our third year and we wanted to take 'Kronos Free Gyros Day' to the next level and not only give back to gyros-loving consumers, but recognize and support a largely unsung group of military families through the Fisher House Foundation," says Howard Eirinberg, president, Kronos Foods, Inc. "Especially in tough economic times, we're thrilled to be able to provide our loyal gyros fans with a free meal and, we are confident they'll pay it forward and show their deep gratitude toward military families."
Kronos has given away more than 68,000 free gyros in the past two years and donated $5,000 to Fisher House through last year's promotion. This year, Kronos will set the bar even higher, hoping to surpass last year's donation.
Traditionally known as a Greek sandwich, a gyros is made with selected beef and lamb meat seasoned with zesty spices, thinly sliced and piled high onto a fluffy handmade flatbread pita. Gyros can be enjoyed many different ways, but is usually topped with onions and tomatoes, as well as a flavorful creamy cucumber sauce called tzatziki or gyros sauce.
Additionally, consumers can make a gyros stop along Chicago's tollways, at one of the four Kronos Gyros & Cafe restaurants located at Belvidere, Hinsdale, Lake Forest and Schiller Park (O'Hare). Visit http://www.KronosFreeGyros.com for more information.

About Fisher House
The Fisher House™ program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There is at least one Fisher House™ at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House™ program helps 12,000 families and has made more than three million days of lodging available to family members since it originated in 1990.
