Augmented Reality Gets Social With Layar Version 5.0

AMSTERDAM, April 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Layar, the largest open platform in mobile augmented reality, announced its new version 5.0 with an improved user-interface and sharing capabilities to Facebook and Twitter. Layar 5.0 also allows for increased interactivity within layers through its new animation capabilities. Layers are no longer limited to static content; now icons and (3D) objects can come alive with animation, adding a new level of engagement to augmented reality.

Share your augmented experiences with your friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter. Connect to Layar with your Facebook or Twitter account and share your favorite layer or augmented screenshot within your social networks.

Experience and Interact with Animated objects

Interact with (3D) objects. Layar v5.0 provides for richer experiences, allowing users to have more interaction with layers and allowing developers to add event-driven animations to points of interest. It extends the animation API, defining a set of animations that the developers can use and combine to create exciting layers.

Explore with Improved Navigation

Easily find your way around different types of augmented reality layers with the completely revamped user interface, offering a four-tab navigation consisting of: favorite layers, recent layers, categories/featured content, and settings. When a user opens Layar, they now start directly from their favorite layers as well as most recently visited layers to make accessing content much quicker and easier.
