Audiovox Corporation Receives Three CEA Innovation Awards
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Nov. 10, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Audiovox Corporation (Nasdaq: VOXX), today announced that last night, at CES Unveiled@NY, the Company received three CEA Innovation Awards from the Consumer Electronics Association. The highly anticipated 2011 Best of Innovations announcements were made at the 2011 International CES press conference, which was attended by elite industry media eager to learn more about this year's most innovative companies, and their various products coming to market.
Audiovox once again received industry recognition for its latest advancements in mobile electronics, with a new product in its collision avoidance line that is a MultiView rear view camera that includes a revolutionary design, which combines the highest quality digital imaging technology with safety features, including both audible and visual pedestrian warning alerts from multiple viewing angles. The camera is used in conjunction with any LCD screen including factory installed navigation screens. Other cameras detect objects in the rear of a vehicle, but this is the first time a camera has the ability to actually detect pedestrians; an extraordinary feature that represents a leap forward in vehicle reverse safety technology.
Audiovox also received an Innovation Award for its new add-on Remote Start and Security System, which adds vehicle security and remote start to any factory installed keyless entry system. What makes it innovative is the fact that before this product, a consumer would have had to carry two remotes; one for the factory keyless entry and one for the security/remote start system. No more! This system allows the factory remote to control all of the alarm and remote start features from the key. It has extended range capabilities of up to 1,200 feet, an Impact Sensor to provide vehicle content protection, and comes equipped with an on-board starter relay, which prevents vehicles from being started while the system is armed and adds another security measure to protect against theft.
Rounding out the Innovation Award roster is the Company's new Automotive Blu-ray Disc Player, a high-tech system which allows consumers to take their Blu-ray discs from their home collection and play them in the vehicle. Over the past two years, Blu-ray has grown in popularity and is on the way to replacing DVD formats as storage media for multimedia entertainment systems. This unit lets the consumer utilize those growing collections of Blu-ray discs. The player is mounted under the seat or in any vehicle storage compartment and connected to any monitor in-car by using either the HDMI, composite, or component outputs.
"We are constantly driving innovation, looking for new technologies and features that consumers want and need," stated Pat Lavelle, President and CEO of Audiovox. "Our 2011 product line is no different and we look forward to introducing our Innovation product award winners and many other new consumer and accessories products at the International CES Show in January."
The prestigious CEA Innovation Award program recognizes technologies, applications, products, and services judged to be the most unique in design and engineering and beneficial to the consumer electronics industry. The winning products are selected by a panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and trade press editors based on engineering and design qualities, uniqueness, user value, contributions to consumers' quality of life, and the impact on the manufacturer's business.
