Audio Precision Adds PDM Interface & Perceptual Audio Test To APx Audio Analyzer For Smartphone And Telecom Design Engineers
BEAVERTON, Ore., May 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Audio Precision, the recognized standard in audio test, today announced the availability of three much anticipated products: a PDM audio interface, Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ) measurement option and the latest update to APx500 measurement software, version 3.0.
AP's integrated PDM option provides direct I/O, modulation, and decimation for designers of MEMS microphones, smartphone chipsets and other PDM devices. AP's PDM option supports a full range of options, including 4th and 5th order modulation, interpolation ratios of 32, 64, 128, and 256, and the unique ability to analyze an undecimated PDM bitstream. A 50x interpolation ratio will be available in the summer. The PDM option contains a built-in power supply for devices under test, and can directly measure Power Supply Rejection (PSR) in PDM devices.
The PESQ software option enables fully automated testing of speech quality with any audio interface, generating MOS (Mean Opinion Score) results. MOS results from PESQ achieve a very high correlation with results obtained using human subjects in a way that is faster, more repeatable, less expensive, and fully automated. The APx PESQ software option allows the results of many tests to averaged, and may be used with any audio interface, including analog, DSIO, Bluetooth and PDM.
In addition to support for PDM and PESQ, APx500 v3.0 enhances the DSIO (Digital Serial In/Out) with support for up to 16 channels of TDM at 96 kHz, variable TDM word length and accommodations for TDM variations used in a wide range of DSP products. APx500 v3.0 is strongly recommended for all APx audio analyzers.
Price and availability
Pricing for the PDM option is $4500 in the US. Upgrade price for existing instruments is $4500 until December 2012, when it increases to $5500. Pricing for the PESQ software option is $4500 in the US. Prices for both products may vary in other countries. Both products require APx500 v3.0 software, which may be downloaded free of charge for users of APx audio analyzers. Please contact your local AP Sales Partner for demos or more information.
