Audies Finalists Announced by the Audio Publishers Association
"A Matter of Matter" by L. Ron Hubbard Among Finalists for Prestigious Audie Awards
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The entertainment industry is well known for its many illustrious awards given for outstanding productions. From the Grammys to the Academy Awards as well as the Emmys, Golden Globes and Critics Choice, we love to recognize quality in entertainment. The National Book Award, Caldecott Medal, Pulitzer Prize and Nobel Prize for Literature also recognize excellence in style and craftsmanship of the written word. And for the spoken word, there are the Audie Awards, now in their 16th year.
From a field of over 1,000 entries, finalists are chosen in 30 categories ranging from Best in Fiction and Best in Non-Fiction, Best Male and Best Female Narrator, to Best in Science Fiction, Mystery, Romance as well as Best Short Stories/Collections, and the winners will be announced this coming May 24 at the Times Center in New York City at the Audies Gala Celebration.
Among the finalists announced in the Short Stories/Collections category was A Matter of Matter (Galaxy Audio), a collection of short stories written by L. Ron Hubbard and narrated by Corey Burton, R.F. Daley, Jim Meskimen, Tait Ruppert, Josh Robert Thompson and Michael Yurchak. The short stories—all science fiction by genre—are "A Matter of Matter," "The Conroy Diary," "The Planet Makers" and "The Obsolete Weapon."
As one reviewer put it, "One thing I have gathered from listening to [A Matter of Matter] is that L. Ron Hubbard knew how to throw a twist on a story.... Hubbard throws a wily twist at the end that could put an old 'Twilight Zone' episode to shame."
A Matter of Matter is a multicast audiobook complete with cinema quality sound effects contained in the Stories from the Golden Age, a line of 80 books written by L. Ron Hubbard.
