AUA Wins Marketing Awards for "Why Urology?" Video
LINTHICUM, Md., Jan. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Urological Association (AUA) is pleased to announce that it was awarded two marketing and communications awards for its video, "Why Urology?" The video, developed for medical students curious about the field of urology, was awarded a Platinum "Best of Show" Aurora Award in the Recruiting category, as well as a Gold AVA Award in the Web Video/Recruiting category.
The "Why Urology?" video was designed to educate medical students and the public about the specialty of urology and its desirability as a field. The video, available on www.AUAnet.org and on the Association's YouTube channel, has been viewed nearly 5,000 times since it was launched in August 2011.
"It was important for us to share the diversity and benefits of practicing urology as well as the passion and enthusiasm doctors have for the field," said AUA Associate Executive Director of Information and Communications Peter J. Plourd II. "Our Marketing, Communications and Education Departments did in excellent job of capturing those sentiments in this video. We are very proud."
The AUA's "Why Urology?" video was also honored with a Platinum MarCom Award in 2011.
The Aurora Awards recognize excellence in the film and video industries. This worldwide competition focuses on non-national commercials, regional or special interest entertainment and corporate-sponsored film and video. The "Best of Show" is the highest honor given in the competition.
The AVA Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), and is administered internationally each year. Gold Awards are presented to entries judged to exceed the high standards of the industry norm and were awarded to 14 percent of entrants.
