Attorneys Tom Kline and Robert Mongeluzzi To Hold Tuesday, May 17th Briefing Following NTSB Fatal Amtrak Philadelphia Derailment Findings

PHILADELPHIA, May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tom Kline, Esq., of Kline & Specter, P.C., and Robert J. Mongeluzzi, Esq., of Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett & Bendesky, P.C., co-lead counsel in the May 12, 2015 Amtrak Train 188 fatal derailment federal Multidistrict Litigation (MDL), will hold a news conference in Philadelphia immediately following the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Tuesday, May 17^th meeting at which it "will determine the probable cause" of the tragedy.

Mr. Kline stated, "Amtrak needs to restore public confidence in its service, and that requires full and complete accountability by Amtrak and by Train 188 engineer Brendan Bostian."

Mr. Mongeluzzi added, "The Train 188 catastrophe claimed eight lives and forever derailed the lives of hundreds others making it imperative that engineer Bostian, who was operating at more than twice the posted speed, be held fully accountable and the true cause be determined. "

The lawyers, whose firms filed the first passenger lawsuits following the derailment at 106 mph (in a 50 mph speed-restricted zone) of the seven-car train just outside Center City Philadelphia, will analyze and discuss the Board's findings in the context of the MDL that now includes more than 120 separate civil complaints filed in U.S. District Court against Amtrak and Brendan Bostian, the train's engineer. Combined, their firms have filed 32 complaints, including two death claims. Their most recent joint news conference was in February to review the legal implications of the release by the NTSB of the incident docket containing thousands of pages of Train 188 derailment investigative reports, interview transcripts, photos, and on-board vehicle event (Black Box) recordings.
