Attention New Yorkers and Pet Lovers! Adoptapalooza Returns to NYC's Washington Square Park This Sunday, September 12
NEW YORK, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Following on the heels of the success of New York City's first Adoptapalooza in May, the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals® is pleased to announce that this free, fun-filled community pet adoption event will return, bigger and better, to Washington Square Park this Sunday, September 12, from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. The event is sponsored by PEOPLEPets.com (www.PEOPLEpets.com), PEOPLE magazine's website for animal lovers and their pets.
Adoptapalooza will feature more than 100 cats and dogs for adoption from Alliance Participating Organizations, including Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C), Animal Haven, A Tail at a Time, Bideawee, PET-I-CARE NYC Adoption Program, the Picasso Veterinary Fund of the Mayor's Alliance, and Sean Casey Animal Rescue. Mobile adoption units will be provided by North Shore Animal League America.
A new feature of the event is the participation of members the New York Breed Rescue Network (NYBRN) of the Mayor's Alliance. MetroMalts (Maltese Rescue) and NJ Schnauzer Rescue Network will be on hand, each with purebred (or nearly pure) dogs for adoption!
New activities for all to enjoy have been added to the event lineup. Fun activities for families and their pets include: PEOPLEPets.com photo booth where pet owners and their furry-four legged friends can pose to be featured on the PEOPLEPets.com website, complimentary pet parent gift bags provided by PEOPLEPets.com for those who adopt a pet, TTouch for pets provided by Tavi & Friends, free doggie makeovers by Hotel, a pet fashion show featuring NYC's emerging pet fashion designers, a preview of The Art Dogs & Cats of NY exhibit and an exciting raffle offering impressive giveaways, including a 2-night stay at the pet-friendly Eventi, A Kimpton Hotel in New York City. Valuable information and services will also be on-site including: an Ask-a-Vet tent where Dr. Stephanie Janeczko, Medical Director for NYC's Animal Care & Control can answer questions, an Ask-a-Groomer tent, ask-the-trainer Sharon Mear, and trainer demonstrations by Kate Perry, named "Best Dog Trainer in New York" by New York Magazine and Robert Haussmann, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) and founder of Dogboy Inc. The Mayor's Alliance will also provide valuable information about pet adoption, free and low-cost spay/neuter services in NYC, microchipping, dog licensing, and more.
