AT&T Names Hal Lenox President of AT&T New York
Telecommunications leader to Lead Legislative and External Affairs in New York State
ALBANY, N.Y., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T today tapped AT&T veteran Hal Lenox as president, AT&T New York. Lenox will be responsible for developing strategies and plans for achieving AT&T's legislative and regulatory objectives in the state.
"Hal is a dedicated leader and visionary with the expertise to work with AT&T's New York customers and public officials to ensure that we are always providing the best possible service and partnering in the telecommunications industry," said William Leahy, vice president of Atlantic region legislative and regulatory affairs for AT&T. "In 2010, ours is an industry framed by public policy – which makes the position and Hal's leadership even more important."
Prior to this assignment, Lenox served as president of AT&T Nevada, where he had similar responsibilities, helping the company achieve its legislative and regulatory goals for Nevada. "Hal's achievement in the industry and breadth of knowledge about telecommunications make him a perfect fit for this pivotal role," said Leahy.
Before the Nevada position, Lenox was sales vice president of AT&T California's "out of franchise" operations, handling its competitive local exchange carrier operation, with additional responsibility for sales activities in support of the business sales organization's efforts throughout the state.
Lenox has also represented AT&T and its subsidiaries before Congress as a member of the AT&T Washington, D.C. office, and participated in various industry and trade organizations surrounding new and emerging communications technologies. In that role, Lenox prepared and delivered testimony to Congress during hearings on the Internet, advanced services deployment, and wireless spectrum issues; and advised numerous members of Congress and their staffs on broadband and wireless policy, and related topics.
A San Diego native, Lenox held faculty positions within the San Diego Community College District and taught in the Telecommunications Program at San Diego State University.
Lenox will be located in Albany, New York.
