MIAMI, March 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced it is looking for applicants to fill nearly 450 jobs statewide, including nearly 200 newly created jobs. This comes as the company tallies its 2013 hires in Florida at nearly 3,000, including wire technician, retail, call center, IT/engineering, business solutions, consumer sales, and corporate support positions.
Most of the job openings have been spurred by AT&T's focus on delivering an effortless customer experience and Project Velocity IP (VIP). Project VIP is a multibillion dollar investment plan to expand and enhance AT&T's IP broadband networks to support customers' growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to increase the density of its wireless network by adding more cell sites nationwide, as well as deploying more small cells and Distributed Antenna Systems.
"AT&T continues to expand its customer base in Florida and invest in our networks to ensure we are providing the high level of service customers have come to expect of the nation's most reliable 4G LTE network," said AT&T Florida President Joe York. "These jobs are part of our commitment to this level of customer service and to support our growth in Florida. On behalf of AT&T Florida I want to personally thank Governor Scott for his continued commitment to creating an environment in Florida where businesses like AT&T can grow, and we are proud to join him in saying 'let's keep working.'"
AT&T jobs are among the best in the world and full- and part-time positions include competitive wages and benefits. AT&T currently employs more than 15,000 employees throughout Florida and consistently hires new talent. AT&T is regularly recognized for training and development programs that are among the best in the country. In 2012, the company invested about $280 million in employee training and approximately $26.6 million in tuition aid. AT&T is committed to and has been recognized for diversity and veteran recruiting.
