ATLANTA, April 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 500 AT&T Georgia employees will receive the President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for their time spent volunteering in 2013. The PVSA is a prestigious national honor offered by the President in recognition of sustained volunteer service. Each of the 520 employees volunteered 100 hours or more, totaling more than 50,000 hours of service in Georgia to help improve the communities in which they live and work. In addition to the PVSA, more than 67 employees will be receiving the Gold Award for dedicating over 500 volunteer hours in 2013.
Continuing the volunteer service today, AT&T employees in Georgia and the AT&T Pioneers volunteered to help clean the grounds at Centennial Olympic Park this morning.
"Our customers recognize AT&T as a company that connects people to their world through the latest broadband technologies. Our employees are also making connections in the communities we serve through their volunteer service, and we're especially proud of this special recognition for more than 500 AT&T Georgia employees," said Beth Shiroishi, AT&T Georgia President. "Every one of the employees earning this recognition is giving their own time and energy to improve the lives of others. On behalf of AT&T, we thank them for their considerable personal commitment to make a difference in their corner of Georgia."
This year, more than 3,000 AT&T employees nationwide will be recognized for their volunteerism.
The President's Volunteer Service Award is available on an annual basis and is an honor that every American – from all ages and all walks of life – can aspire to achieve. The President's Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, a group created by President George W. Bush, in 2003, to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers make in our nation.
