BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* today announced that the company is seeking applicants to fill nearly 160 jobs in Louisiana. The positions will be primarily focused on retail, technician and customer service jobs and are a result of AT&T's continued investment in Louisiana. Between 2011 and 2013, AT&T invested approximately $1.2 billion in its Louisiana wireless and wired networks.
The most critical area of need is the technician position. AT&T will be aggressively recruiting new candidates until approximately 80 jobs have been filled in this category.
So far this year, AT&T hired more than 500 new employees in Louisiana, including more than 200 technicians. In 2013, the company welcomed 1,375 new Louisiana employees to AT&T. With last year's investment of more than $175 million in its wired and wireless networks in Louisiana, hiring is expected to continue at a robust pace to meet continued growth of wireless and broadband services in the state.
"AT&T's announcement that the company continues to seek new employees across Louisiana shows that the strength of the state's economy extends to all sectors. Our residents have many opportunities to enhance their lives as the result of companies making private investments here," stated Louisiana House Speaker Chuck Kleckley.
As a part of its hiring drive in Louisiana and across the country, AT&T is looking to hire 10,000 military veterans and their families in the next five years. The company has established a Military Talent Attraction team, which focuses on promoting AT&T's career opportunities to veterans and educating managers across AT&T on the benefits of hiring military veterans.
