AT&T Appoints Peter Thomson as New Zealand General Manager

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, July 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Thomson as General Manager for New Zealand. Peter has also been appointed Sales Manager for Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia and will be responsible for further driving the sales opportunities across these regions.

Peter has a proven track record in the telecommunications industry across the Asia-Pacific region, and has experience at a senior executive management level in sales, marketing and business development.

Peter joins AT&T from systems-integration company IPConnect in Sydney, where he held the position of Sales and Commercial Director. In that role, he was responsible for launching IPConnect's cloud based offering, and launching the company into Pacific markets including the national broadband network for the Vanuatu Government.

Prior to IPConnect, Peter worked for nine years at regional telecommunications provider Macquarie Telecom, including seven years as founding Managing Director for Macquarie Telecom Asia in Singapore. Peter built the business case for the establishment of an Asian business unit in 2000, and quickly built the unit's operations to include 40 staff and 650 corporate accounts. As part of Macquarie Telecom's executive leadership team, Peter was a key contributor to the company winning the International Company of the Year award (COMNET Expo, Washington DC, 2000) and the Australian Telecommunications Company of the Year award (Australian Telecommunications Users Group, 2001) and Accepted the Australian Exporter of the Year award for Business Services, from the Minister of Trade and Industry, 2002. In 2006, Peter was admitted to Advance 100—an organization recognizing the top 100 Australians working overseas.
