ATSSA Congratulates Pennsylvania Rep. Bill Shuster on Selection as Transportation/Infrastructure Chairman

WASHINGTON, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), an international roadway safety association headquartered in Fredericksburg, Va., congratulates Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) on his selection as Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for the 113th Congress.

Last year, MAP-21 was enacted into law, authorizing surface transportation policy and funding through September 2014. Although the HSIP remains a core program within the federal-aid highway program, a great deal of work remains on Capitol Hill to continue reducing roadway fatalities.

"We are aware that there are many challenges awaiting Congress this year and next, but ATSSA is hopeful that the immediate work on a surface transportation authorization will begin soon and will be completed before MAP-21 expires," Wentz said.

Over 1,600 ATSSA members provide the majority of features, services and devices used to make our nation's roadways safer. These include pavement markings, road signs, work zone traffic control devices, guardrail, and other roadside safety features.
