ATSSA Congratulates Newly-Appointed Department of Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx
FREDERICKSBURG, Va., June 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) congratulates former Charlotte, N.C. Mayor Anthony Foxx on becoming the next secretary of transportation.
With the Senate affirming his nomination by a vote of 100 to zero, Secretary Foxx heads to the Department of Transportation with a sizeable full agenda.
"ATSSA wholeheartedly congratulates Secretary Foxx and looks forward to continuing efforts with the United States Department of Transportation to maintain America's roadways as the safest, most efficient roadways in the world," said ATSSA's President and CEO Roger Wentz.
Since 1969, ATSSA, an international trade association, has represented companies and individuals in the traffic control and roadway safety industry. Over 1,600 ATSSA members provide the majority of features, services and devices used to make America's roadways safer. These include pavement markings, road signs, work zone traffic control devices, guardrail and other roadside safety features.
ATSSA members are eager to work with Secretary Foxx in the coming months on the ongoing implementation of MAP-21, the next transportation authorization, the Highway Safety Improvement Program and roadway safety infrastructure improvements in general.
"With more than 34,000 fatalities on America's roadways every year, there is still much work to be done to move our nation toward zero deaths. That is ATSSA's goal, and we look forward to continuing our aggressive work to make our roadways safer, which will reduce motorist and passenger fatalities and serious injuries. Again, ATSSA congratulates Secretary Foxx and wishes him great success in his new position," Wentz added.
