Atlas Travel International Sales Increase 20%
Transactions and Requests for Proposals are Also Up
MILFORD, Mass., Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 2010 was a hard fought, successful year for Atlas Travel International and some early signs seem to indicate that 2011 will continue the success trend. The Boston-area travel management company is showing an increase in overall transactions of 14% from 2009. Sales have increased 20% and air transactions are up 25% over 2009. In addition, requests for business travel management proposals increased over last year and companies appear to be looking for ways to travel smarter rather than cutting travel expenses.
"We have seen businesses come to us asking for things that they don't normally ask for in our proposals," said Kerin McKinnon, executive vice president, Global Business Development. "For example, asking for ways to consolidate their spend on business meetings as part of an overall business travel management solution. This indicates to me that companies understand that if they travel smarter, they don't have to stop traveling all together."
Ms. McKinnon also stated that there has been an increase in requests for proposals from companies looking to use Atlas Travel to manage their company's travel plans. In fact, the requests have more than tripled from this time last year.
"It was a tough year, economically, for much of the travel industry, but at Atlas we worked diligently to exceed expectations," said Elaine Osgood, CEO of Atlas Travel International. "It is all thanks to the exhaustive efforts of our sales and support teams that we not only managed to grow, but to turn a profit despite major investments made throughout the year."
In addition to the impressive increase in sales, Atlas Travel International was recognized by a number of prominent business organizations and industry publications throughout 2010. They were in the top 10 of women-led companies as recognized by the Women's President's Organization. They were number 10 on the Boston Business Journal's list of top women-led businesses. Atlas was also on the Inc. 5000 list and was recognized as part of the Travel Weekly Power List, where they moved up eight notches.
