Atlas Roofing Announces Partnership with Veterans Community Project
Supplies and construction support to be provided for veterans housing village
ATLANTA, Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlas Roofing Corporation has announced a new partnership with Veterans Community Project, a Kansas City-based nonprofit working to eliminate veteran homelessness through transitional housing solutions and social services.
Atlas Roofing will provide materials from its four business divisions – Roof & Wall Insulation, Shingles & Underlayments, Expanded Polystyrene and Web Technologies – to support the completion of the nonprofit's first veteran housing village. The company will also bring in local contractors for the village buildout and ensure each home's full compliance with Kansas City's residential building code.
"We are always looking for ways to give back to the communities where we do business, and we are inspired by the mission of Veterans Community Project to serve those who have previously served our country," said Ken Farrish, president of Atlas Roofing Corporation. "Our aim is to provide exceptional products that not only simplify the build, but more importantly provide long-term sustainability for the village and organization."
Collaborations That Help Veterans
The Veterans Community Project's housing village is a specialized community of 50 tiny homes that provide housing stability and address the underlying cause of veteran homelessness. In contrast to traditional homeless services, the tiny-home model provides each veteran with privacy, security and the ability to reintegrate into their communities at a comfortable pace. Additional services, such as mentoring, case management, counseling and linkage to other programs, are administered through an onsite community center.
"While veteran homelessness in Kansas City has decreased in the past year, our mission isn't over until veteran homelessness is eliminated completely," said Brandon Mixon, co-founder and facilities director at Veterans Community Project. "Our organization is dedicated to supporting every man and woman who has served our country, but none of this work could be done without the generosity of partners like Atlas Roofing. We're grateful for the opportunity to work together and look forward to the continued partnership."
Product Donations to Enable Non-Profit Mission
Atlas is partnering closely with the Veterans Community Project, local contractors and designers to simplify the build and provide long term sustainability for the village and organization. As a manufacturer, Atlas is able to provide a full package of building envelope solutions.
With the Veterans homes being built to Kansas City residential building codes, Atlas is providing energy efficient construction material that is safe, cost-effective and sustainable. In addition to providing the product donations, Atlas will also provide on-site support, contractor coordination and manufacturing partners who will custom fabricate and donate products for homes.
