TRUJILLO ALTO, Puerto Rico, Dec. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlantis Healthcare Group Puerto Rico, Inc. ("Atlantis"), a leading provider of kidney dialysis services for patients suffering from end-stage renal disease (ESRD), today announced the appointment of Rubette Harford, as President and Chief Executive Officer of Atlantis. Atlantis' parent company, American Alliance Dialysis Holdings, LLC (AAD), was formed earlier this year to identify and evaluate strategic investment opportunities in North America and the Caribbean.
In her new role as President and CEO, Ms. Harford will lead a staff of more than 400 health professionals in their work to provide quality care to approximately 1,400 Atlantis patients. Ms. Harford will oversee all of Atlantis' operations developing strategies to fulfill the board of directors' goal to provide clinical excellence and deliver superior patient outcomes at its 14 dialysis facilities.
Ms. Harford, BSN, MSN, RN, and PHN, succeeds previous CEO, Dr. Otegbola Ojo, who will remain a member of the board of directors of AAD. Dr. Ojo is the founder of Atlantis and guided the company through an impressive period of growth.
Dr. Randall Maxey, Chairman of AAD, said, "The board sought the best candidate with a combination of management and regulatory experience in the delivery of quality dialysis care, as well as strong leadership skills to lead Atlantis into a new era of excellence and continued growth. 'Ruby' is very familiar with the company given her role as Chief of Clinical Operations and Regulatory Affairs. Atlantis will maintain the highest standard of quality care utilizing state of the art techniques, procedures, technology and resources. We thank Dr. Ojo for his contributions and we are confident that 'Ruby' will build upon Atlantis' past success."
Ms. Harford has over 20 years of executive healthcare and nursing experience with extensive regulatory knowledge and expertise working closely with the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) to address dialysis care in U.S. island territories. She has served previously as President of Pacific Dialysis Corporation Guam, President of Guam Renal Care and Regional Director of Total Renal Care South Pacific. She is currently completing her PhD with an emphasis on health policy and ESRD. She has a strong track record of spearheading innovative approaches to deliver high quality, culturally competent care to those suffering from ESRD.
"Atlantis provided approximately 200,000 treatments last year, however, the need is much greater," says Ms. Harford. "I am committed to working with our management team, outstanding physicians, compassionate medical staff and partners to meet the growing demand for dialysis treatments with quality, culturally sensitive services and care to all patients and their families."
