ATLANTA, Oct. 25, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlanta University Center students had the opportunity to network with nearly 300 employers and organizations showing their willingness to offer roles and opportunities to diverse candidates at the Atlanta University Center Consortium's 2023 Career Fair.
Over 2,000 undergraduate students from Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College networked with Fortune 500 corporations, enterprising companies, non-profits, and government agencies present to speak with them about both full-time employment and internships.
This year, the UNCF (The United Negro College Fund) Empower Me Tour (EMT) joined the AUCC with an extra special push by partnering for this event as the AUCC has prepared the world's most talented emerging professionals and connected them with companies and organizations who need their innovation, imagination, and expertise.
Alden Jackson with IHG Hotels & Resorts, said he's looked specifically for job fairs with an HBCU component as he is an HBCU graduate.
"Being here today was really important, specifically because I did go to Morehouse. I felt it was important for me to be here to have these conversations so that people know that, when you think of hospitality, it's not just heads and beds, but it's a full organization. We are offering ten-week paid internships across a number of our disciplines, legal, communications, sales, and strategy. I wasn't interested in kind of engaging in career fairs until I knew that there was an HBCU component involved."
Latisha Jones, a junior at Spelman College said, "The recruiters asked very well-thought-out questions. They've asked about me and my interests and how it can align with their business and they've been very honest."
The AUCC Career Fair is held annually every September with registration beginning in July. Organizations seeking diverse candidates are encouraged to register to attend.
