ARLINGTON, Va., April 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ATK (NYSE: ATK) today released its Fiscal Year 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report.
The CSR report details the company's efforts to make a positive impact in the communities in which it does business. The report is divided into seven categories: safety, ethics and compliance, community service, military support and appreciation, environmental stewardship, diversity, and wellness.
"ATK's mission is about more than just achieving financial success," said Mark DeYoung, ATK's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We also have a responsibility to be good corporate citizens, and I'm proud of our company's record."
The full report, which can be found at http://www.atk.com/corporate-social-responsibility/, highlights the company's community engagement and provides examples of corporate and employee-led initiatives to give back to those directly touched through ATK's business operations.
"Responsibility is embedded in our corporate culture," DeYoung said. "We have a commitment to safety. We insist upon ethical behavior from our employees. And we embrace environmental stewardship."
The report also focuses on ATK's community service efforts, a large part of which is its support of the United Way.
"ATK has a long-standing partnership with the United Way, and between employee donations and corporate contributions, ATK raised more than $1.1 million for United Way initiatives around the country in Fiscal Year 2013," said DeYoung.
ATK also donated close to another $325,000 to other charities through employee contributions and corporate matching.
"ATK employees understand the importance of giving back to those in need," said DeYoung. "They are extremely generous and consistently donate their time and money to help others in their communities."
The report also details ATK's work to support America's men and women in uniform and their families.
"We regularly partner with USO-Metro DC, local Wounded Warrior projects and other veterans groups to help show our appreciation for the dedicated service of our military members and their families," said DeYoung.
In 2012, ATK launched its Jobs for Veterans initiative to help veterans match their military skills and expertise with ATK job opportunities. More information on ATK's Jobs for Veterans initiative can be found at www.atk-jobs.com.
This is the third consecutive year ATK has prepared a Corporate Social Responsibility report.
"We believe in giving back because it's the right thing to do," DeYoung said. "I'm proud of what we've accomplished. We'll look to build on this success as we continue to raise the bar on our performance as a responsible corporate steward."
