ATI CEO and Retired CNH Global Executive Duane Tiede Earns SAE International Medal of Honor
WARRENDALE, Pa., Feb. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mr. Duane Tiede, CEO, ATI, Inc., is the recipient of the 2012 SAE International Medal of Honor. The medal will be presented during the SAE 2012 World Congress, which will be held April 24-26 in Detroit. Mr. Tiede served as the SAE International 2004 President.
The Medal of Honor, established in 1986, is presented annually and is SAE International's most prestigious award. The award recognizes an SAE International member for his or her unique and significant contributions to SAE International and is funded through the SAE Foundation.
An SAE International member for over 45 years, Mr. Tiede has made significant contributions to SAE International and is being recognized for extraordinary member leadership. His vision, dedication, and creativity have contributed to the success of SAE. Most recently he has led the Executive Nominating Committee to develop a new process for selecting Presidential, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, and Board of Director Nominees. He has also served on the Finance Committee, the Fellows Committee, the Medal of Honor Committee, The Commercial Vehicle Congress, and the Transition Planning Task Force. He successfully supported the SAE Foundation's capital fund drive to the Commercial Vehicle Sector. He has been a supporter and participant in the Chicago section.
In 2005, Mr. Tiede joined ATI Inc. as CEO. ATI is a design and manufacturer of rubber track undercarriages for the heavy duty off road industry. From 2000 through 2004 he served as an industry consultant to a range of heavy duty product companies.
Prior to that, Mr. Tiede retired from CNH Global in 2000, where he served as Vice President of Functional Engineering. In 1988, he joined Case Corporation as Director of Product Performance and Evaluation. His jobs included Executive Director, Vice President of Engineering for the Worldwide Components Group, and Vice President of Functional Engineering. As Vice President of Functional Engineering his role included global responsibility for major component families, technical support, and product test working with product teams to develop and implement technology on new and current products.
Mr. Tiede was with Deere and Company 21 years at both the Moline Technical Center and the Waterloo Product Engineering Center. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Engineering. Mr. Tiede is a 45 year member of ASABE, the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. He served on the University of Illinois College of Engineering Advisory Board from 1998-2002 and the Agricultural Engineering Advisory Board from 1998-2003.
