PHOENIX, July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- AthleteInMe.com's innovative mobile app "Exercise Calorie Converter" is a winner in the latest Digital Health Awards contest.
"Many people understand how calories affect their diet," says Stan Reents, PharmD, creator of the app and AthleteInMe.com®, a leading exercise resource for consumers. "But almost no one realizes how long they might have to exercise to burn off those calories."
"Preventing weight gain is a lot easier than losing weight," notes Reents, who is a health care professional and has obtained five exercise/fitness/coaching certifications. "My hope is that people will use this app when they dine out."
The Exercise Calorie Converter app converts the calories in common restaurant menu items into minutes of exercise, specific for the user's weight. The results are expressed as walking, jogging, bicycling, and swimming. Several university-based research studies have validated that consumers make smarter choices when calories are expressed as exercise equivalents.
Version 3.0 was released in February. The app's proprietary database now contains over 5000 foods and beverages from dozens of restaurants and offers real-time updates as new restaurants are added.
The Exercise Calorie Converter app is available for both Apple iOS and Android devices. It sells for $2.99.
