ATF in the Carolinas Gets New Leadership

Will Oversee Agency Mission in Both North and South Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 11, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Wayne L. Dixie, Jr., has reported to Charlotte as the new Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the ATF Charlotte Field Division.  Mr. Dixie brings over 24 years of state and federal law enforcement experience to the Carolinas.

Dixie began his law enforcement career as a narcotics and undercover agent with the Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigations. In 1992 he started his ATF career as a special agent in Cincinnati. As a federal agent, he worked in an undercover capacity for ATF and investigated cases involving interstate and international firearms investigations, violent criminal gangs, armed narcotics traffickers and felons violating federal firearms laws.

As a member of ATF's elite Special Response Team (SRT) he was specially trained in tactics and techniques in executing search and arrest warrants during high risk law enforcement operations.  

Dixie completed a tour in ATF Headquarters in Washington, DC, in the both the Intelligence and then the Training Divisions, where he redesigned the Special Agent Complex Investigations Course. His management experience comes from assignments as the Resident Agent in Charge in the Albuquerque, New Mexico Field Office and as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Columbus, Ohio Field Division.
