ATF Completes Nelson's Speed Shop Fire Investigation
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., June 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) National Response Team (NRT) today announced it has completed the initial investigation at Nelson's Speed Shop, 4566 South Greenville Road, Greenville, Mich. June 22 the Montcalm Township Fire Department responded to the fire scene. ATF and the Michigan State Police began a fire scene investigation and ATF's NRT was requested to assist with the investigation. The structure and contents were a total loss.
At this time the agencies have completed the investigative work at the fire scene. Due to the extreme level of fire damage, a definitive cause has not been determined at this time. Due to the lack of a specific accidental cause being identified, the possibility remains that the fire was intentionally set. The investigation is continuing.
Along with ATF, other agencies working this joint investigation are the Michigan State Police, the Montcalm Township Fire Department and the Montcalm County Sheriff Department.
