ATF Announces Up To $5,000 Reward For Information On Attempted Canton, S.D. Bombing
ST. PAUL, Minn., July 23, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) St. Paul Field Division Special Agent in Charge Bernard J. Zapor today announced an award of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the attempted bombing of a residence in Canton.
On July 8, the Canton Police Department responded to a residence at 530 West 3rd Street, Lot #10, Canton, to the report of an explosive device found outside the residence. ATF and the Sioux Falls Police Department Bomb Squad conducted a scene examination and determined that an incendiary improvised explosives device (IED) recovered at the rear of the residence failed to function as designed, but was a live device. The IED was subsequently rendered safe.
Investigators are seeking the public's help in solving this crime and are hopeful that the reward will provide additional leads in the investigation.
