DALLAS, Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ATERAS, a leading provider of solutions for legacy migration and modernization, announced today the release of its Application Transparency Platform™ (ATP™) at the Gartner Symposium ITxpo in Orlando, FL. ATP is a revolutionary Natural Re-Hosting product that provides an end-to-end strategic solution for lower license costs, higher productivity and full preservation of your legacy assets and business rules. As an alternative to the re-engineering and conversion solutions available for Natural and Adabas, ATP dramatically reduces the time for the replacement cycle and accelerates Return on Investment.

Natural applications are moved without change from their current mainframe environment to a less expensive, more robust ATP environment on Windows. The high cost license fees are eliminated and the mainframe workload is decreased. The Adabas databases and data are automatically transformed to relational database technology. The transition is seamless with no impact to the business and no need for end-user or developer re-training.
"ATERAS is one of our key partners for migrating Natural Adabas to Windows and SQL Server," said Bob Ellsworth, Worldwide Director of Platform Modernization for Microsoft. "With their newly announced ATP solution, ATERAS can greatly accelerate the time to deployment and thereby improve on an already compelling ROI."
Savannah River Operations (SRO) is a key Department of Energy (DOE) industrial complex dedicated to environmental management and cleanup in support of the U.S. nuclear non-proliferation efforts and supports environmental cleanup and energy independence. SRO is responsible for the oversight of the DOE's environmental management operations at SRO.
SRO is the newest ATP customer. SRO runs Natural Adabas and requires an efficient, fast transition of their Natural Applications to Windows. The chosen solution is ATP. The Natural Applications are Re-Hosted to ATP with no change to the source code and the Adabas databases are converted to SQL Server on Windows. The ATP development environment is enhanced with full documentation, impact analysis, dynamic debugging and version control.
"ATP provides a fast, efficient solution for moving away from Natural Adabas off the mainframe to Windows without impact to the business. Applications are unchanged, just removed from the existing legacy environment, freeing companies of IT budget constraints. The ROI is accelerated to months versus years. From a business perspective, ATP makes fiscal sense," said Scott Miller, CEO, President, ATERAS.
