MANASSAS, Va., May 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ATCC, a global leader in biological materials management and standards, today announced the appointment of Dr. Mindy Goldsborough as Chief Science and Technology Officer (CSTO). In this role, she will develop and execute ATCC's overall scientific and technology strategy, including guidance and input on product development, technology assessment and development, and intellectual property as well as quality/regulatory and bioproduction/operations activities from a science and technology perspective.

Dr. Goldsborough, who joined ATCC in 2012, will maintain her current role as Vice President and General Manager of ATCC Cell Systems (ACS), ATCC's research and development (R&D) business focused on optimizing and innovating cell- and cell biology-based products. In this role, she is responsible for the overall strategy, management, and growth of ACS.
Prior to ATCC, Dr. Goldsborough was Director of R&D for BD Biosciences' Advanced Bioprocessing group, where she developed media and supplements for biologic and vaccine drug manufacturing and cell therapy applications. Her previous work includes senior R&D roles at BD Biosciences' Bioimaging business (formerly Atto Biosciences) and Life Technologies, where she led R&D efforts in DNA-based diagnostics, stem cell biology, forensics, and nucleic acid purification.
Dr. Goldsborough earned her Ph.D. in Genetics from The George Washington University, and completed her dissertation research and post-doctoral work at The National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute.
