MANASSAS, Va., April 21, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ATCC, a global leader in biological materials management and standards, today announced two executive leadership appointments to help drive new business growth and build ATCC's brand in a dynamic and competitive environment.
Dr. Scott Siegel joins ATCC as Vice President, Corporate Development, and Ms. Melissa Parker joins as Director, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. Both positions are new to ATCC.

As Vice President, Corporate Development, Dr. Siegel will lead ATCC's overall growth and business development strategy, including efforts to identify and negotiate potential partnerships and M&A opportunities that will enhance and expand ATCC's product and service portfolio and capabilities.
Dr. Siegel brings more than 25 years of experience in the biotech and pharma industries and academia to his role. He joins ATCC from the non-profit Institute of Life Science Entrepreneurship, where he was co-founder and Vice President, Business Development for the New Jersey-based life sciences aggregator, incubator and accelerator.
He founded Milestone Life Sciences, a business development and strategic advisory firm to biotech and pharma companies, and held business development and strategic marketing leadership roles at Ezose Sciences, Redpoint Bio, and Johnson & Johnson.
Dr. Siegel earned his Ph.D in Biochemistry from State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, and completed postdoctoral studies in Pharmacology at the Yale University School of Medicine.
As Director, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Ms. Parker will lead ATCC's overall communications and media relations strategy, including press and stakeholder outreach, branding, social media, and executive and employee communications.
Ms. Parker has more than 15 years of experience as a communications professional. She joins ATCC from Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, where she was Senior Manager, Communications Strategy and Operations for the $6.1 billion defense technology leader.
Prior to Raytheon, Ms. Parker was Director, Marketing Communications for Applied Signal Technology, Inc., and Senior Marketing Communications Specialist for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. She also served as a Program Management Specialist for the U.S. Coast Guard's Deepwater Program, supporting the Program Executive Officer with communications and public affairs activities.
Ms. Parker earned a bachelor's degree in advertising and marketing communications from the Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York.
