ATA Hires Michael Cammisa as Vice President of Safety Policy & Connectivity
Industry Veteran to Direct Trucking Group's Safety and Autonomous Vehicle Efforts
ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, American Trucking Associations President and CEO Chris Spear announced that the nation's leading trucking industry group has hired Michael Cammisa as ATA's new vice president of safety policy and connectivity.
"Mike has decades of experience as a leader in highway and vehicle safety," Spear said. "His understanding of the emerging issues surrounding autonomous vehicles, the regulatory process and his connections within the safety community will be invaluable to ATA and its members and we are pleased to have him join our team."
Prior to coming to ATA, Cammisa spent 16 years at the Association of Global Automakers, most recently as senior director of safety and connected vehicles, working with state and federal officials and automakers to shape the regulatory framework for connected and automated vehicles.
Cammisa has also worked as a researcher at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and as an engineering and management consultant.

Cammisa holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia, a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina and a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University.
