ATA Announces Telemedicine Video Contest with Over $16K in Prizes
WASHINGTON, June 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Telemedicine Association has created an open video contest on the theme "Expect Telemedicine Because Telemedicine Works," with over 16 thousand dollars in total cash prizes. This contest is designed to promote the value and importance of telemedicine, mHealth and remote monitoring to patients, the public and healthcare administrators. Video entries are accepted through August 15 and may be submitted at www.americantelemed.org/videocontest or www.facebook.com/AmericanTelemed.
"We've organized this video contest to showcase the benefits of using telecommunications to deliver healthcare and to illustrate why patients should expect and demand such services," said Stewart Ferguson, PhD, President of the American Telemedicine Association. "We're looking for creative, original and humorous ways to promote telemedicine to healthcare decision makers and the public at-large."
Submitted videos must be 30 or 60 seconds in length and should focus on one of the following objectives:
- Evoking consumer awareness, interest and demand for telemedicine services so that they will help promote its growth and use
- Promoting the value of telemedicine to hospital and health system administrators to encourage their adoption of telemedicine

The contest includes 4 judged prizes, including awards for Best Video on the Theme of Consumer Awareness ($5000), Best Video on the Theme of Provider Adoption ($5000), Best Non-English Language Video ($2000) and Best Video Produced by a Student ($2000). There will also be 2 people's choice prizes ($1000 each) as selected by a popular vote.
