At Home Partners With Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Home Decor Retailer Launches National In-Store Fundraiser and Sponsors Light The Night Walks to Support Cancer Cures
PLANO, Texas, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- At Home, the home decor superstore, announced today a national partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers. Throughout the month of September, Blood Cancer Awareness Month, At Home team members will be collecting $1, $5 and $10 donations at the check-out registers at more than 75 locations across the U.S.
In addition to conducting in-store fundraising, At Home will sponsor Champion-level participation in this year's LLS Light The Night Walk for full and part-time team members nationwide. Light The Night Walks bring together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases, and shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
"We are proud to announce our partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and support the great work they are doing in the fight against blood cancers," said Lee Bird, CEO of At Home. "This national fundraising campaign reinforces one of our core values as a company - doing the right thing for the communities in which we live and work. At Home is known for providing our customers with endless home decor possibilities to express their personal style, and now we are giving them a chance to express their generosity as well. We are very grateful for their support and we look forward to seeing our team members and customers come together and support this worthy cause."
"The donations that At Home raises through its efforts inside and outside of their stores will help fund lifesaving blood cancer research," said Louis J. DeGennaro, Ph.D., interim president & CEO and chief mission officer for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. "LLS exists to find cures for blood cancer patients and ensure that patients have access to lifesaving treatments. We've made great progress, but there is still work to be done. As there are no means of screening for, or preventing most blood cancers, we must focus on cures. We are grateful for the support of At Home to help us reach our goal of a world without blood cancers."
