Asurion Tech Hiring focuses on Middle Tennessee Universities
Asurion's growth plan keeps talent in Nashville, stimulating the economy
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Asurion, the global leader in technology protection services, is announcing an off-season hiring program to fill a number of Information Technology positions. The hiring push is part of Asurion's growth plan, announced in 2010, committing to add 500 jobs in Metro Nashville.
The new class of IT professionals will be based out of Asurion's Nashville offices and consist largely of recent college graduates. These graduates will fill roles such as Business Analysts, Database Administrators, Server Engineers and IT Operations. Company recruiters plan to target graduates within related majors including Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering and Science, Business Administration and Economics.
Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, Tennessee Technological University and Vanderbilt lead the list of universities where Asurion has successfully recruited students.
In the past 12 months, Asurion has hired in excess of 70 college students in IT. Nashville Technology Council President and CEO, Liza Lowery Massey notes that, "Asurion's IT department has been a leader in both the size of their college hiring program and the training they are providing. Their approach results in exceptional opportunities for recent college graduates in Nashville. We are hoping they become the model for more companies to pursue new college graduates as part of their tech talent strategy."
The comprehensive on-boarding process at Asurion ensures every new hire receives extensive training, recognizing that for many candidates, this is their first experience in a corporate setting. The first month of the training program is designed to acclimate new hires to the company and educate them in business skills that may be outside their field of study. In addition, these employees are also paired with a mentor as a resource for continued on the job training. This process allows these individuals to become more versatile, productive team members as well as accelerating their professional development
"We are happy that our global growth has led to the need of continued expansion of our employee base in Middle Tennessee," said Senior Vice President of IT, Chris Corrado. "Asurion remains committed to Nashville to provide us with highly competitive talent to support our growth, and as part of that commitment we are providing exceptional career opportunities to new college graduates."
In addition to this hiring wave, Asurion also currently expects to recruit college hires in January and June 2013 to fill additional positions in their Nashville offices. This growth presents considerable opportunity for recent graduates, especially in Nashville, a city known for its highly competitive talent pool.
